The Great Programs Sustain New High for WCR
We began February with an incredibly insightful state meeting in Austin starting with a dinner gathering where the speaker, Tracy Blackwell, discussed how to make the executive line more cohesive and after we all took the DISC profile test we had a better understanding of the different levels of thinking within our group. We attended leadership classes for the next two days and made plans for the September TAR/WCR meetings which will be held in San Antonio this September. Brenda Carpenter, a brand new member, took the initiative to join us at the events and, if she were to tell you the number of referral contacts she made during those two days, you would understand why the executive line is so willing to give of their time to lead your network. State and countrywide referrals are most attainable when you invest the time to meet other members face to face. We were also advised of the new policy from WOMENS COUNCIL National to eliminate onsite reservations. While not an easy transition it is understandable as we are professionals and need to extend the courtesy of making reservations for any industry function. It is important to have an accurate headcount to set up the room correctly and ensure preparation of the proper amount of food so the venues are not left scrambling to accommodate numbers different from the original count. Please, please register in advance.
On February 22nd we began our focus on wellness with a Health and Wellness Fair at The Well, open to all between 10:30 am and 4:30 pm and included lunch, vendor tables, speakers and demonstrations covering the newest trends. Dave Terrazas gave a cooking demonstration and provided insight into all the Botanical Gardens has to offer, Tim McDiarmid, Tim the Girl, discussed her Paleo delivery service company, Juliana Karlstad, JK Fitness discussed helping a client on the TV series My 600 lb Life, Fetch MD explained their mobile service, and Stephanie Paxton discussed her positive experience with plastic surgery and the importance of choosing the right physician. Britton Beckerman presented new information in the nutrition and dietetics fields along with the new information on food labels food labels and we learned that Powerhouse Bakery caters to paleo, vegan and gluten-free diets and offers sweet and savoury options, all made from scratch. That evening we enjoyed “Party Gras” and If you missed the Karaoke and networking at this one, you will want to join us for our next Mixer.
March 7th rounded out our Wellness program with some very important financial information. Michael Guertin of Aperto Consulting spoke about incorporating and the tax benefits along with new changes. April 24th- This upcoming event is going to stretch your thinking to a new level. We have been able to secure two well-known and talented women in both real estate and in their personal lives who were being booked for events in El Paso and Austin and we were able to detour their flight through San Antonio. I feel that strongly about their ability to reach so many of us on different levels. They currently speak at state and national and will leave you laughing and in tears, sometimes both at the same time. Please put April 24th on your calendar. Location and time TBD. Trust me this will be a few hours that you will thoroughly enjoy. Be sure to frequent our page for upcoming videos.
