Looking To Change Your Life? Look in the Mirror
Women’s Council continues to "bring it back" this year by providing the opportunities to make a change and elevate your business.
This was very evident on the June 19th program which was a collaborative event of the Austin, Highland Lakes, New Braunfels and San Antonio Networks which was based on the book “The 5 Second Rule,” by Mel Robbins, which was moderated by the very entertaining and motivating Tona Rustine. More than 100 Agents and guests packed the Seekatz Opera House in New Braunfels for a discussion about changing that "one thing" that may be holding them back. Many made commitments with Tona and will report back on the results. A delicious breakfast was provided to all attendees. For those who wanted to stay, have some fun and create better referral relationships, an afternoon in Gruene was just the ticket. A group from San Antonio and Austin enjoyed lunch at the Gristmill followed by some shopping and then topped it off with some dancing at Gruene Hall to the tunes by “Two Tons of Steel”.
On June 12th we had a sold-out event held at David Weekley Gardens of Urban Crest model home where a panel of very successful REALTORS® discussed “Time Management Techniques You Can't Live Without.” Our own Sheila Moran, now Texas Network President, Patricia Zars and Dana Phillips shared their best game-saving activities for each stage of business. Tidbits were taken away by all in this captivated audience which would allow them to stop being busy and start being productive.
During the month of May, some of our members gathered on the 5th to participate in the “Race for the Cure,” where we were able to reach $1000 in donations. Personally, as a 3-year survivor, I continue to do everything possible that will help find the causes of and cures for breast cancer so all women may prevent or survive this disease. Later that month some of the Executive Line spent a week in Washington D.C. where we met with Senators and Congressmen from our area to discuss issues that impact homeowners and therefore those in our industry. Among other things we pushed for was an increase in the tax deduction limit for married couples to $20,000 and, of course, for the renewal of the flood insurance program. While there we were able to witness the voting to do away with Net Neutrality. Watch the news to learn the results of your leader’s efforts and note the power that comes from your TREPAC donations.
There are numerous events planned for the second half of this year starting with the next and largest event of the year which will be our “Hot Havana Nights” scheduled for July 12th which will be held at Edison Experiment located at the corner of Loop 1604 and Huebner Road. A snapshot from our Director of Programs: "It’s all coming together. Mark your calendar...save the date...JULY 12th…get your tickets and contact me if your company would like to be a sponsor or would like to donate items to our Silent Auction. It is now less than two weeks away and since it is the middle of the summer, that equals a night needed to let loose. ‘Earlybird’ tickets are only $30 and include Food, Live Music, Dance Performance, Cocktail Contest, Silent Auction, Mojitos & Cigars and a few free drink tickets as well. Check out the WCR FB page."
AND NOW FOR THE ASK...Are you ready to step up your game and increase your business by learning all the leadership qualities that come from serving on the Executive Line? I have been notified that I must move out from my position as President at the end of the year. Applications are now being accepted for the positions of President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Membership, and Director of Programs and there are also numerous chair positions available. The travel, cross country friendships, knowledge, and referral business are the payback for volunteer positions and I would not trade the knowledge and experience I have gained from any of these. Join the fun! It is 60 days until the elections, but in the meantime, “See you on the 12th.”
