Hill Country WCR: Updates from the Hills
It’s been a hot summer and Women’s Council Hill Country has had a couple of ‘hot’ events in August and September with more coming up in October, November, and December!
In August we had a very successful Back to School Supply Mixer at Conway’s in New Braunfels. We collected a wagon full of school supplies and an additional $300 to purchase additional supplies. We had a lot of fun and want to say thank you to all who came out to our event and supported kids that can’t afford school supplies for the new year. Maria Alcala from New Braunfels ISD attended the event and was very thankful and grateful for all our support. A special thanks to our event sponsors, Tracey Blackwell-T Blackwell Insurance Group and Sandra Browning and Elaine Longmeyer with Jefferson Bank. We appreciate you!
On September 20th, we had an amazing industry event at the beautiful Village Venue in Freiheit Village in New Braunfels. We hosted a national speaker, Marki Lemons-Ryhal from Chicago. She has over 25 years of marketing experience and has taught REALTORS® how to earn up to a 2100% return on their marketing dollars. She taught us how to stream live on Facebook and to provide video content for consumers. Statistically, 61% of businesses are using video as a marketing tool. Facebook favors live streaming video! The goal is to connect with customers where they feel comfortable – online with video. Marki is energetic, passionate, smart and very funny! During our three hour class, we left with very specific information on how to:
- Set up social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+ and Twitter.
- Stream Facebook live for personal, business, group and event pages. She did a live streaming video on Facebook while we were in class!
- She gave us links on selecting the correct equipment for conducting Facebook live.
- Have a step by step daily checklist on how to get started in implementing our social media strategy.
- She demonstrated the steps to take after each Facebook Live broadcast to dramatically increase results by sharing the same video on YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.
One of the attendees told me that she has been to over ten Social Media Training Classes and that this class was above and beyond the best and most specific class! Everyone loved the class and Marki!
We also had our 2019 Elections and Raquel Wallace of Realty Solutions, as 2018 President-Elect, will be the 2019 President, Cindy Goodwin of JB Goodwin was elected President-Elect and Meredith O’Bannion of Realty Solutions was elected Treasurer. Congratulations to our 2019 Officers. The Secretary and Directors for Education and for Programs will be appointed.
On October 25th, we will be hosting our 8th Annual Bras for a Cause benefitting Pink Warrior Angels, a local nonprofit organization which is focused on providing direct support to those that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. They firmly believe that no one should ever feel alone in their battles. They act on what they have experienced in their own personal battles with breast cancer by providing resources, financial assistance, and most importantly, emotional support to our warriors through our angel/warrior program. 100% of the Live Runway AND Silent Auction proceeds will benefit Pink Warrior Angels. The event is SOLD OUT AGAIN. And with the generosity of our sponsors, we were able to have more tables set aside for breast cancer honorees to attend the event this year. Last year we were able to donate $104,000 to Pink Warrior Angels and this year our goal is to donate $125,000.
SAVE THE DATE: November 15th will be the Installation of our 2019 officers. We are planning the event now which will be held at the Seekatz Opera house.
In December we will have our annual Strategic Partner appreciation event. Date and Time to be announced later!
