Farewell, 2017: A Year with WCR San Antonio

On December 6th, our incoming Officers and Directors were installed at Noah's Event Venue. Travis Kessler, President/CEO or the Texas Association of REALTORS® acted as Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon event and Sheila Moran, 2018 President of Women's Council of REALTORS® Texas was the Installing Officer. Cathy Heshmat was installed as incoming President along with Carmen Soto, President-Elect; Christina O’Connor, Treasurer; and Rebecca Byers, Secretary. Gail Lamb and Jackie Galvan were appointed as Director of Membership and Director of Programming respectively.

I had the honour of presenting well-deserved awards to a few distinguished members of our Network. Congratulations to our 2017 Award Winners JR Troy, Member of the Year; Michael Guertin, Affiliate of the Year; and Cathy Heshmat, Entrepreneur of the Year!

It has been such an honour and a pleasure to have served as the President of Women’s Council of REALTORS® San Antonio. As my time on our Executive Line comes to an end, I am so very grateful for the experiences I’ve had, the people that I have met and the knowledge that I have gained over the past 3 years. I have grown tremendously as a leader, an entrepreneur and a mother. I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of. I look forward to what the future holds and will forever hold dear all that I have accomplished along with the support and hard work of our Governing Board and numerous volunteers throughout the year.

This has been a year of transition and next month a new era of Women's Council begins for our Network. At our September meeting, membership provided valuable feedback regarding what they would like to see in the coming year and how they would like to receive information. Incoming leadership has taken that input and hit the ground running. You can look forward to an exciting and innovative year complete with a variety of industry events, educational programs and networking opportunities within the framework of the new Network model. The charge is quality over quantity and while there may be fewer programs than one might expect per previous involvement with Women’s Council, you can anticipate that they will be worth your while. Events will take place at various location and times of the day depending on the content. Prices may also vary. However, members can expect to be admitted at a discounted rate.

January’s program will feature a panel of speakers sharing motivational stories to inspire you to follow through with your New Year’s resolutions. Learn from a nutritionist, a John Maxwell life Coach, and our very own Missy Stagers sharing how her life has changed since she beat breast cancer. Future programs will include a Margarita Mixer, a critical look at Cloud computing and what your technology knows about you, a Race for the Cure team run/walk and a reprisal of this year's popular Historic Booze Cruise. Current members should be sure to check your renewal date and update your contact information to be sure not to miss upcoming event information.

Affiliate Memberships are limited and currently filled. However, there are still opportunities available for Affiliates to participate as Strategic Partners. For information regarding becoming a Strategic Partner including the associated levels and benefits, email Cathy Heshmat at Cathy@CathyHeshmat.Com. There will be openings for Affiliate members as REALTOR® membership increases throughout the year. Any Affiliates that wish to join at that time must be members of San Antonio Board of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® in order to do so.

Thank you to our 2017 Strategic Partners: Aperto, CalAtlantic Homes, Devine Roofing & Contracting, First American Title, Frontier Title, Independence Title, Keller Williams Heritage, Light Catcher Photography, RE/MAX of Texas, TAP-FCU and Zippy Shell. We sincerely appreciate your tremendous support!
