In 2005 Jay Southworth and Brian Pitman left their respective positions as presidents of major title companies in Austin to create what is known today as Independence Title Company (ITC). The founders had as their goal to establish a locally owned company that would provide personalized service, innovative resources and quick answers to their client's questions. Since its founding, ITC has experienced major growth and continues to expand its footprint throughout Texas to include more than 70 closing offices and direct licensing in more than 32 counties throughout the state. Locally there are six branches which include four offices within the city of San Antonio, and one each in Schertz and New Braunfels. Since most of the company's staff are true Texans, the network of personal relationships and the company's extremely competent and service-oriented personnel have been the key to their statewide success.

To that end, they have recently added a new training specialist, along with additional escrow officers, escrow assistants, and marketing professionals so they will be better able to reach and serve more customers throughout the area.

Their team of escrow professionals is some of the best and most experienced in the state, and they are backed by in-house attorneys, a local title examination department, and cutting-edge information resources.
While the main focus of Independence Title remains with the insurance and escrow segments of their business, they are also strongly committed to providing REALTORS® with the tools needed to succeed in business and have continued to expand their role in REALTOR® education programs. They have implemented “best practices” to combat current industry challenges like wire fraud/cybercrime and offer more tools/resources/CE-accredited courses than any other title company in Texas. Some of their top new “tools/resources” include a “Stats in a Flash” class, a Statistics Module on their website, and an updated app/net sheet calculator called IndependenceTitleAgent ONE.
